Our Activities and efforts and are managed and planned by Volunteers, Brynmawr Rotary, Rotaract and Interact Members - assisted by Tai Calon and supported by Aneurin Leisure in some activities.

About Us

We are based in Bryn Farm Estate on the middle row, and are fortunate to have a warm and friendly space gifted by Tai Calon for people of all ages to join in with the activities or just have a cup of tea or coffee and meet with others.

Our Community House was set up in 2010 and is run by a team of enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about helping to support the needs of people living in the community, and we can support people with new experiences, to meet others and to access a range of activities to keep us all engaged and active within our local community.

It’s a great place to meet friends, and when we are providing food to enjoy a bite to eat, to enjoy or share a hobby or interest with like-minded people of all ages.

Health & Wellbeing Activities

In our activities we look at how to improve the health and wellbeing of those who attend. One of our aims is to help people to engage in activities both physical and non-physical with an emphasis on enjoyment and fun.

Volunteering

Our wonderful volunteers give their time and effort to make a difference to people across the area. Without them, we couldn't be here to support people in our locality. We have a variety of volunteering opportunities across a range of services so there is something for everyone.

More opportunities

We would like to encourage those over 50 to become active and try something new to help improve their overall wellbeing with us in our friendly environment. Have you got time to help make this happen, if so please contact us.

Please do get in touch to find out how you can get involved.

Young people and their Foodbank support.

Did you know that our Brynmawr Interactors [Rotary members aged 18 and under] help run the Brynmawr Rotary Food Bank which is warehoused at Brynfarm House? - We are proud that the food bank is utilised and how many people we get to help throughout the community.

These young people enjoy helping out throughout the week by sorting, dating and re stocking the food bank.  From donations recived from local supermarkets e.g Ebbw Vale Aldi and Brynmawr Lidl, and from home shipping deliveries generously funded by local buisnessess like Blackwood Engineering and coninuous donations from  community members.

We are so grateful and impressed by their volunteering and how much effort they put into helping the Blaenau Gwent community.

Litter pick

Our amazing youth club and Bynmawr Interactors had fun doing a litter pick around Brynfarm Estate on the 3rd of april 2024.

The children were very keen to get going so we didn't manage to get a lot of photos.

Well done everyone!

An Eggscelent Easter

On April 2nd 2024, during the Easter School Holiday's we planted cress seeds in eggshells and will look forward to to seeing whose eggs grow the best before we do a cress barbering session in 2 weeks time! We all took our seed filled egg shells home to look after them! The eggs inside the shells also filled our tummies for lunch!

We were lucky to also have the local police come visit us to tell us about what they do and how they support our communities. They showed us all their kit, and placed Donna in 'Handcuffs' too, before showing us the inside of a police car and how it works...we were lucky once again to have another opportunity amongst all the other things we did this school holidays, we are feeling very lucky to be able to use the community house for lots of fun.

Community Support Projects run out of The Community House

Our Community Defibrillator is located on the front of the Community House.

This lifesaving equipment was provided with the help of a fundraiser by members of our community and with the support of Jacks Appeal ABUHB and Brynmawr Rotary.

It is accessed if needed by calling 999 - they will give you the cabinet number if you or someone needs to have it ahead of the paramedics arriving.

The Pads have now been repalced thanks to the raffle run by Chloe White whose Mum lives on the estate and the fabulous work of Archie Chard and Maisie Brooks, who sold lots of tickets to enable them to be replaced which enabled the defibrillator to remain available if ever needed [Lets pray it won't be!]

Information sessions are planned for spring 2024 so you won't be afraid of using it!

A Foodbank Project run from the community house by The family of Brynmawr Rotary to help those in need of a occasional help.

To request support please visit The Brynmawr Rotary Facebook page and use messenger to contact them.

Please note - questions will be asked to determine need - evidence of residence will also be required - there are rules in place to ensure fair equitable giving..

A Preloved Childrens Clothes Project to help recycle our childrens clothing as we all know they grow out of things before the clothing is useless! Lets help each other and swap clothing or make use of items to dress your children in these preloved items

To access the project contact Brynmawr Rotaract via their Facebook page and use messenger to contact them.
